Phew! Last book in the series done. And the ending was better than I could ever hope for. Just the prequel left, but I'm taking a break from this series for a bit.

Tedious, predictable, boring - but enough of my reviews, these books are increasingly dire, nothing like the books I remember loving as a child. Luckily, I'm more than halfway through, now...

Finally, it's all building to a crescendo, we're within sight of the end! The series is much improved with Sanderson in charge of writing up Jordan's notes - the writing is tauter, the characters more thoroughly fleshed out - I'm worried it's going to be a culture shock when, after finishing the next book, I go back to the prequel, written entirely by Jordan.

Who'd a thunk it - the series had been getting a bit stale, but the change of author die to the passing of the original author seems to have tightened up the pacing, the writing, and everything else. Here's hoping that continues with the last couple of books.

Planned as the penultimate book in the series, this was the last novel to be completed by the Author before his death - the next book was planned to be written by another author, using Jordan's notes as a guide, but that ran so long it was split in to 3. This does not bode well, especially considering how fracturehd the story has become - with 7 major plot threads, each based around different characters, all happening in different places at the same time, plus lesser threads featuring other characters, there are several jarring jumps, and far too often, things come to a head in several threads, at the same time, with little to no apparent connection, almost as if events are being co-ordinated. 3 books and a prequel to go, and I'll be glad to put it behind me.
